A discovery session is a gentle first step toward finding the right support. It’s a chance to share what’s bringing you to counselling, ask questions, and get a feel for whether we’re a good fit - without pressure or obligation. Sometimes, the first step is simply having a safe place to begin.
-
Sometimes life feels a little harder to navigate than it used to. You may be moving through grief, a major life change, relationship struggles, stress, or simply feeling unsure about what comes next.
Individual counselling offers you a quiet place to pause.
At Bookends Counselling, you don't need to have the right words or know exactly where to begin. Together, we can gently explore what you're experiencing, make space for the emotions that come with it, and begin to understand what you need.
My approach is warm, compassionate, and collaborative. I believe counselling isn't about telling you what to do or trying to "fix" you. It's about creating a safe space where you can be heard without judgement and supported as you find your own way forward.

Grief is one of the most human experiences we will ever have, and yet it can often feel deeply lonely.
You may be grieving the death of someone you love, a relationship that has ended, changes in health, a life transition, or a future you once imagined. Grief can touch every part of our lives; our emotions, our bodies, our relationships, and our sense of who we are.
At Bookends Counselling, grief is welcomed gently, without timelines, expectations, or judgement.
Grief counselling offers a place to speak the names, tell the stories, and make space for all that has been lost. Together, we can explore not only the loss itself, but also the many changes that often come with it—the shifts in identity, routines, relationships, and hopes for the future.
My approach is warm, compassionate, and grounded in the belief that grief is not something to "get over." Instead, it is something we learn to carry, honour, and weave into the continuing story of our lives.
Whether your loss is recent or many years old, you do not have to walk this path alone.

Every relationship has a story. And every story has chapters that feel easy, chapters that feel complicated, and sometimes chapters where you wonder how to find your way back to one another.
Couples counselling offers a space to slow things down, listen differently, and reconnect.
At Bookends Counselling, I believe couples don't have to wait until things are falling apart to ask for support. Sometimes counselling is about working through conflict, rebuilding trust, or finding your way through a difficult season. Other times, it is about strengthening an already loving relationship and learning how to communicate with greater understanding and compassion.
Together, we can explore the patterns that have developed between you, the needs and hopes each of you carries, and the things that may be getting in the way of feeling close.
Couples may seek counselling when they are experiencing communication difficulties, recurring conflict, disconnection, changes in intimacy, trust issues, separation or divorce, or major life transitions. You may also simply feel like you've lost your way as a couple and want help finding your way back.
My role isn't to take sides or decide who is right. It is to create a safe, respectful space where both people have a voice and where you can begin to understand not only what you're saying to each other, but what is underneath it.

There is something powerful about discovering that you are not the only one walking through something.
Group counselling offers a safe, supportive space to connect with others who may be navigating similar experiences, while being gently guided by a professional counsellor.
At Bookends Counselling, groups are intentionally kept small and welcoming, creating space for meaningful conversation, reflection, and connection. You don't have to share more than you are comfortable with, and there is no expectation that everyone will experience things in the same way.
Groups may explore experiences such as grief and loss, life transitions, relationships, caregiving, and the many changes that come with different seasons of life.
My role is to gently hold the space, offer guidance and support, and help create an environment where everyone feels respected, heard, and welcome.

Sometimes, what we need most is to know that we aren't alone.
Bookends Counselling support groups offer a warm, welcoming space to gather with others who understand what it means to navigate a particular season, challenge, or change in life.
Unlike individual counselling, support groups create an opportunity to share experiences, listen to others, and find comfort in the simple realization that someone else has walked a similar path. There is no pressure to have the right words, share your story, or participate in a certain way. You are welcome to simply come as you are.
Groups may focus on experiences such as grief and loss, caregiving, life transitions, relationships, separation and divorce, or other challenges that can sometimes feel difficult to explain to those around us.
Each group is thoughtfully created to provide a sense of connection, belonging, and gentle support. Through conversation, reflection, shared experiences, and practical tools, you may discover new perspectives while building connections with others.

Sometimes a little knowledge, reflection, and connection can help us see our experiences in a new way.
Bookends Counselling workshops are thoughtfully created spaces to learn, reflect, and connect around the experiences that shape our lives.
Each workshop offers a gentle blend of education, conversation, reflection, and practical tools you can take with you. There is no expectation that you have everything figured out, and no pressure to share more than feels comfortable. You are simply invited to arrive as you are, learn something new, and make space for yourself.
Some workshops may be quiet and reflective. Others may invite conversation, creativity, or connection with others. What they all have in common is a warm, compassionate environment where difficult topics can be explored with care.
Because sometimes, we don't need all the answers.
Sometimes we just need a safe place to pause, learn, reflect, and discover that we are not alone.
